Immunology:

At PML, our Immunology department specializes in diagnosing immune system-related disorders and infections by evaluating the body’s immune response. Using advanced immunoassays and automated platforms, we perform a wide range of tests to detect autoimmune diseases, allergies, viral and bacterial infections, and immunodeficiencies. Our NABL entry-level accredited lab ensures precise, reliable, and timely results, helping physicians make accurate clinical decisions. These tests play a crucial role in both disease detection and monitoring response to treatment.

Tests such as ANA (Antinuclear Antibody), dsDNA, and rheumatoid factor help identify autoimmune diseases like lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and Sjögren’s syndrome. These conditions occur when the immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own cells.

We measure Immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels to detect allergic reactions to substances like pollen, dust, food, and medication. These tests help pinpoint specific allergens and guide patients in managing allergic conditions more effectively.

Immunology plays a vital role in the diagnosis of HIV through ELISA and rapid tests that detect HIV antibodies and antigens. These tests are crucial for early detection, treatment initiation, and preventing transmission.

We offer comprehensive hepatitis testing for infections like Hepatitis B and C using antigen and antibody markers. These tests help determine current infection, immunity, or exposure status, supporting timely intervention and monitoring.

While not exclusive to immunology, CRP and ESR are inflammatory markers commonly used to evaluate infections and autoimmune disease activity. Elevated levels can indicate inflammation, infection, or ongoing immune response.

These tests assess the levels of major immunoglobulins to detect immunodeficiencies or chronic infections. Abnormal values may suggest immune disorders, including primary immunodeficiency or multiple myeloma.

This panel screens for infections that can cause complications during pregnancy (Toxoplasmosis, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus, Herpes, etc.). It’s vital for maternal health and monitoring fetal development risks.
